Lasting Power of Attorney: Health and Welfare
Do you worry that the decisions that may be made for you in the event that you are incapacitated might not be what you would want? You may be seriously injured. Or, with an ageing population, you may suffer serious illness like cancer or dementia which could leave you unable to make decisions for yourself due to losing mental capacity. Putting a Lasting Power of Attorney to protect your health and welfare in place means that your wishes must be followed. Not only will your instructions be followed by people who you appoint to act in your favour, but medical professionals and local authorities have no authority to make decisions that go against your wishes.
Putting an LPA in place can be long-winded and complicated, but working with you, we take on the process and paperwork so that you can decide what you would want to happen in the event that you are incapacitated.
Lasting Power of Attorney: Finance and Property
Not only can you put an LPA in place that lays out your wishes for your healthcare, but you can put one in place that deals with how you would like your money and property managed if you’re unable to make those decisions. You appoint your own ~attorney~ to manage your affairs according to your wishes, and your finances are protected from local authorities in the same way that your healthcare is protected from external decision-makers.
There is a clear, if complex process for establishing an LPA for property and finance, but here at Will PRotect we can work with you to make sure that your wishes are properly documented, your attorneys appointed and the process and paperwork completed accurately and submitted to the Office of the Public Guardian in good order.
